Last year, $8 billion in delivered packages were stolen, according to a report by Security.org.2 And the influx of delivered packages isn’t slowing down anytime soon. USPS delivered nearly 7% more packages in October to December 2023 compared to the same timeframe the previous year.3
What it means for you: If your package is stolen, report it to the police so they can watch for repeat neighborhood offenders. Check the company’s and shipper’s policies to see if they will replace your package.
In the future, consider grouping small purchases into one large order to reduce the number of packages you’ll have to keep tabs on. If you can, try scheduling delivery during a time you’ll be home, or opt for in-store pickup or a required signature for pricier items.
